Peste 900 de familii dintre cele mai sărace din 13 regiuni ale Republicii Moldova au un viitor

Lucrurile bune se fac în echipă. De asta lucrăm cu serviciile sociale publice în Moldova. Ca să se știe cum, am pus de-o conferință în Chișinău. Se întâmplă acum. Moldoveni, români, bulgari, bosniaci, britanici, ucraineni și belgieni - își pun creierele la contribuție, pentru cei mai vulnerabili dintre copii și familiile lor. 

În total, 28 de ONG-uri, inclusi din stânga Nistrului: Ocnița, Edineț, Dondușeni, Râșcani, Drochia, Bălți, Tiraspol/Bender, Chișinău, Hâncești, Cimișlia, Leova, Basarabeasca și Cantemir. Rostul acestor ONG-uri e să ajute familii, copii, vârstnici, oameni cu nevoi speciale și minorități. Dar pentru impact, ai nevoie de autoritățile publice. Și ele, la rândul lor, au nevoie de noi. Pentru că vrem să trăim într-o lume mai bună. Iar asta depinde doar de noi. Dacă lăsăm orgoliile la o parte, dacă ne dezbărăm de competiții absurde, dacă ne înțelegem ca oameni și pentru oameni. 

Vreo 4.000 de copii și familiile lor au acum o viață mai bună, pentru că zeci de ONG-uri și alte zeci de autorități publice locale și-au dat mâna. Da. La așa evenimente să tot vii. Așa conferințe să tot vezi. Fără bla-bla. Cu fapte concrete pentru oameni. Felicitări, CCF/HHC Moldova!

Instituționalizarea ucide. Un copil de 11 ani s-a spânzurat într-un centru de plasament

Nu e nimic nou în asta. Deznădejdea copilului de 11 ani care s-a spânzurat cu șireturile de tocul ușii trebuie să fi fost insuportabilă. Prin ce o fi trecut, prin ce coșmar o fi trăit, doar el a știut și cei ca el, cei care încă suportă traumele unei copilării lipsite de iubire și de familie.

E șocant și cumplit de trist să vezi că disperarea și neputința unor copii care cresc în instituții atinge cote la care moartea devine opțiunea lor. Pentru că băiatul acesta nu e singurul care se sinucide într-un orfelinat. Mulți au făcut-o înaintea lui și mulți o vor face de acum încolo, dacă mai tolerăm instituționalizarea drept o așa-zisă formă de ”protecție” a copilului ajuns în grija statului.

Ca să nu-și ia zilele, copiii au nevoie de o familie. Sau de un mediu cât mai apropiat de cel familial, în care să crească. Oare câți vor mai trebui să moară, ca să facem asta mai repede?

Family Type Home No. 100

The place these children can call "home". Something stable, to cherish and to have until they take life in their own hands. This is the house we opened in Bucharest on Tuesday. 12 children will enjoy life here, after going through hell in state institutions. 

In this way, with prevention of child separation from their families, with reintegrations of children back into their own families, we managed to close down institution No. 54 in Romania. We started working on this one in 2015. And it's been 19 years since we started our work on closing down state institutions in Romania. 

Yes, it is hard work. Bloody hard work. It takes a whole-hearted team, like ours, to achieve something amazing like this. It takes partners you can rely on, in social services, in the business environment, or in the diplomatic community. But it is worth it to the last bit. 

Yes, it is exhausting so many times. Yes, my colleagues sacrifice their own families and children for the sake of this cause: they believe we can live in a Romania free of state institutions for children. They trust it is worth doing everything they can to bring children back into families. And they are right: over 30,000 children are in families because of their belief and sacrifice.

With some 160 institutions left, with close to 8,000 children confined in them, it is still a long shot, but we want to be here for the day when there is no institution left in Romania. For the day when all children in state care enjoy family life. This is our commitment. 

A New Family Type Home Now Open in Moldova. Transnistria to Give All Children a Family

In Tiraspol, Transnistria, we are close to an understanding aiming to close down institutions for children. Mr. Oleg Fedotov, First Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Labour, Ms. Anna Makovskaia, Head of State Service for Custody and Support of Families at Risk, and Ms. Anastasia Bodnarenko, Deputy Head of the Department for Abroad and International Organisations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - discussed with us how we will make this strategy happen over the next few weeks.

Our team in Transnistria make the best they can to reach as many families as they possibly can. We prevent child separation from their parents. We help reintegrate back home those who can leave institutions and return to their parents or grandparents.

From one year to another, the number of children in institutions in Transnistria is smaller and smaller. We will together make sure this continues until all children are back into families!

In Chisinau, Moldova, HM British Ambassador Lucy Joyce is a strong partner for us in our programmes to help the most vulnerable families. With the influence they have, the British Embassy in Chisinau is to support us get children's rights up on the agenda here.

In the Prime Minister's Office, Ms Viorelia Batrânac-Moldovan, Prime Minister's Advisor, and Ms Svetlana Mirca, Manager of the National Council for the Protection of Children's Rights, are willing to participate in integrating education, health and social protection in our topic on marginalised communities and youngsters leaving care. Most of the youngsters leaving care currently end up on the streets, without the smallest support to have a decent life. This is not an unusual situation for many European countries.

Ms Viorica Dumbrăveanu, Deputy Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Family, has been committed to this cause for many, many years. A thorough expert on social protection and macro-systemic strategies, we rely on her experience and knowledge to make sure our combined forces impact all children currently surviving in institutions in Moldova. 

I finished my visit on a particularly positive note. I visited the Family Type Home we developed for severely disabled children in Chisinau, together with our partner, Ms Rodica Terehovschi, Head of Chisinau Child Protection Department. As a result, these children are saved from the nightmare of an institution and will live in this house for the rest of their lives. Our team in Romania will come over to Chisinau, to bring the experience they have gained in working with severely disabled children in a family-based environment. I was grateful to see the members of staff and their dedication to the children whose life is changed so much for the better.

There is definitely a lot to do. There are still thousands of children surviving in institutions. There are tens of thousands more, at risk of family breakdown and extremely vulnerable. Poverty is present in Moldova and in Transnistria, as it is present everywhere I go. Those who are to suffer most from this, are the children we work with.

Both Moldova, and Transnistria, can be success stories. I believe child institutionalisation is to become a subject of history books over the next few years.

Ora Pământului - Hope & Homes for Children și Cantus Mundi

În seara asta, de la 20.30, așteptăm peste 600 de copii și părinții lor în Centrul Vechi, în Piața Millenium din Baia Mare. Vom stinge luminile, vom cânta, vom celebra pământul și resursele sale.

Poate vă întrebați de ce se alătură organizația noastră unei inițiative de tipul Ora Pământului. Hai să vă spun.

Umblăm des în pungile de sărăcie și în colibele celor mai săraci oameni. Ajungem acolo datorită copiilor lor. Ne uimește felul în care se resemnează în fața lipsurilor. Fără apă curentă, fără electricitate, fără încălzire își duc zilele, fie vară, fie iarnă. Că plouă, că ninge, că e foarte frig sau foarte cald. Pământul, uscat vara, devine o mocirlă slinoasă primăvara și toamna și apoi ca un bolovan rece iarna. Pentru mulți dintre cei cu care lucrăm noi, lumina becurilor și căldura obținută prin țevile sistemului de încălzire, precum și apa de la robinet - sunt vise pe care nici nu îndrăznesc să le aibă.

Măcar o oră, putem trăi și noi fără becuri, făr electricitate, putem sta și noi un pic afară, în vântul primăverii - mai ales că se pare că nici nu va ploua.

Când o să vă gândiți ce greu e să stai o fărâmă de timp fără curent, ce neplăcut e să stai în ploaie, sub cerul liber, în frig - gândiți-vă la sutele de mii de copii, dar și la părinții lor.

Puteam fi noi în locul lor. A fost doar o chestiune de hazard. Ne-am născut într-o familie care ia lucrurile astea de-a gata. Tare bine ar fi să nu luăm de-a gata ceea ce avem. Și să fim aici pentru cei foarte, foarte mulți, care nu au lucrurile esențiale de care noi am ajuns să ne batem joc - apa de la robinet, curentul electric, căldura din calorifere.
