Campionii legendari ai României sunt în echipa HHC România!

Foarte rar am ocazia să anunț o astfel de susținere de elită a programelor noastre! Legendele sportului românesc, nume dintre cele mai grele, precum Doina Melinte, Mihai Leu, Camelia Potec, Maricica Puică, Virgil Stănescu, Monica Iagăr, Elisabeta Lipă, Nicoleta Grasu, Iulian Stamate, sau Amatto Zaharia fac parte din echipa Hope and Homes for Children România, organizatie care, în 16 ani de activitate, a schimbat în bine viețile a aproape 28.000 de copii. Toți acești sportivi își expun trofeele sau echipamentele de joc în care au făcut istorie pentru sportul românesc, în standul nostru special, la expoziția Sport Expo din cadrul Maratonului Internațional București. Sportivii se vor afla la startul competiției, alergând în tricourile HHC România!

Între 3-5 octombrie, în Piața Constituției, pot fi văzute, ca într-un muzeu al sportului românesc, trofeele și tricourile campionilor români: - Centura de campion mondial la box profesionist cucerită de Mihai Leu în 1997 - Combinezonul de raliu cu care Mihai Leu a devenit campion național la raliuri - Ultima medalie de bronz cucerită în 2009, la Roma, de Camelia Potec, campioană olimpică și actualul președinte al Federației Române de Natație și Pentatlon Modern. - Cupa "IKF World Kempo Championship" 2011, cucerită de Amatto Zaharia, președintele Federației Române de Kempo - Cupa "Locul 1" în cadrul Ligii Naționale de Baschet cucerită de Virgil Stănescu 1n 2012. Virgil Stănescu este vicepreședinte al Federației Române de Baschet și președinte al echipei Steaua CSM EximBank - Tricoul cu care Virgil Stănescu a jucat pentru echipa americană de baschet South Alabama, el făcând parte din Hall of Fame-ul (Galeria Legendelor) echipei. - Tricoul cu care jucătorul naționalei de handbal a României, Iulian Stamate (CSM București) a câștigat Cupa Ungariei, în 2009.

Sunt mândru că avem alături de noi asemenea nume de personalități care au făcut istorie în sportul mondial și, implicit, au făcut atât de mult bine țării.

Legendary Champions Are in the HHC România Team!

Very rarely do I have the opportunity to announce such elite partners for our programmes! Legends of sports, some of the most valuable names, such as Nicoleta Grasu, Doina Melinte, Mihai Leu, Camelia Potec, Maricica Puică, Virgil Stănescu, Monica Iagăr, Elisabeta Lipă, Iulian Stamate, or Amatto Zaharia, are part of our Hope and Homes for Children România, team. All of them expose their medals in our special stand, at the  Sport Expo exhibition, in the International Bucharest Marathon. They will be present at the marathon, running for us, in the HHC Romania T-shirts!

Between 3 and 5 October, we are organising a live museum of Romanian sports, with their memorabilia: - The professional boxing Champion Belt, awarded to Mihai Leu, in 1997 - The rally equipment in which Mihai Leu became national rally champion - The last bronze medal awarded in 2009, in Rome, to Camelia Potec, olympic champion, and President of the Romanian Swimming Federation. - The "IKF World Kempo Championship" Cup 2011, awarded to Amatto Zaharia, President of the Romanian Kempo Federation - The First Prize Cup, awarded to Virgil Stanescu in 2012, in the National Basketball League. He is Vice-President of the Romanian Basketball Federation. - The T-Shirt in which Virgil Stănescu played for the American basketball team South Alabama, as he is part of the team"s Hall of Fame. - The T-Shirt in which Iulian Stamate, national handball team player, won the Hungary Cup, in 2009.

I am proud to have in our team on Sunday, for the Marathon, such amazing personalities, who have written history in the world of sports and have, intrinsically, done so much good for our country.

20 Years of Hope and Homes for Children!

Hope and Homes for Children Romania grew up with my own children. Over the years, all I have done is about Hope and Homes for Children. Successes or failures, frustration and happiness, ecstasy and agony - all mixed up in a turmoil of intensity.  These are strong words, but the actual life has been infinitely more powerful. Altogether, I lived in these 20 years what other go through in a 100. We often say that, to have a fulfilling present, a child needs a past he/she is comfortable with. And even only to be able to think of the future, any human being needs a sort of a pact with the present they live. Our future is, I think, the future of the 28.000 children whose lives we touched, by doing them some good.

In the 16 years, we managed to help 19,000 children stay home, with their families. We saved some 6,000 from abusive, traumatising, institutions. Some 700 we reunited with their families. And close to 700 youngsters have been able to become independent, because of us. With 114 small group homes, day centres, mother and baby units and other family-based services developed, we transformed the way they do social assistance in Romania.

Our vision is simple: every child needs a home and a family. So what we have done for 20 years all over the world is crystal clear: we save the most vulnerable children from state institutions, or from abuse hard to even think of - and we bring them into the safety of a family life.

20 de ani de Hope and Homes for Children!

HHC România a crescut o dată cu copiii mei. Tot ceea ce am făcut s-a confundat cu HHC. Reușite sau nereușite, frustrări și bucurii, extaz și agonie - toate s-au contopit într-un amalgam de trăiri intense. Cuvintele sunt tari, dar trăirile propriu-zise au fost infinit mai puternice. Una peste alta, am trăit în 20 de ani cât alții în 100. Spunem deseori că, pentru a avea un prezent împlinit, un copil are nevoie de un trecut pe care să-l cunoască și cu care să fie împăcat. Iar fie și numai pentru a te putea gândi la viitor, orice ființă umană are nevoie de un pact cu prezentul pe care-l trăiește în timp real. Viitorul nostru e și al celor 28.000 de copii ale căror vieți le-am atins, făcându-le bine. În 16 ani, am reușit să ținem acasă, în familiile lor, aproape 19.000 de copii. Am salvat din mediile abuzive, traumatizante, ale instituțiilor, aproape 6.000 de copii. Pe alți aproape 700 i-am reunit cu familiile lor. Iar incă 700 de tineri au putut deveni independenți pentru că noi am fost aici. Cu 114 case de tip familial, centre de zi, centre maternale și alte servicii sociale bazate pe familie, am transformat modul în care se face asistență socială în România.

Viziunea noastră e simplă: fiecare copil are nevoie de o casă și de o familie. Așadar, ceea ce facem de 20 de ani în toată lumea e limpede: îi salvăm pe cei mai vulnerabili dintre copii, din instituții de stat, sau din abuzuri la care ne e greu și doar să ne gândim - și-i aducem în siguranța unui mediu familial.

My Children Run with Me to Raise Funds for the Poorest of Children

On October 5, two of my children, Mara, age 17, and Aaron, age 14, accompanied by myself, will run in the Bucharest International Marathon. I am really glad they had the initiative to take this challenge, in favour of the most vulnerable children in Romania, those still surviving in state institutions, and those about to be torn apart from their families. In the marathon, we will be joined by more than 60 supporters, celebrities and friends whose aim is to raise funds for the children and families we are here to serve.
